Tokyo
Taste Machidaya (Arai Yakushi)
The store has a wide selection of products and excellent service, making it the epitome of a local sake store. They also have a 180ml bottle series and a refrigerated cellar, so although it's a bit of a walk from the station, it's worth a visit! For sale only.
Uemo Shop (Heiwadai)
It's a short walk from the station, but this liquor store stocks sake from the finest breweries that the owner trusts. Although it's a sales only store, it's a great place to buy some delicious local sake.
Okamotoya Nagayoshi Shoten (Bakurocho)
The drinking space at the back of the store is well-equipped, offering a wide selection of snacks as well as dried foods, and even food cooked in-store.
Orihara Shoten (Monzen-Nakacho)
This liquor store is located on the approach to Fukagawa Fudodo. It is a great place to experience the pleasure of casually enjoying a variety of local sake and snacks, as the kakuuchi bar is very popular.
Sanwa Sake (Ueno/Asakusa)
The Ueno store is a short walk from the station, but stocks a wide range of products, and the Kappabashi Doguya-gai store specializes in 720ml bottles , where you can enjoy sake in a stylish atmosphere at the bar counter from 500 yen.
Shinshu Sake Village (Shinbashi)
It's located in a corner of an old building called Shinbashi Ekimae Building, so it may seem a little intimidating to get to, but it's a must-visit place for sake lovers, where you can enjoy Nagano prefecture's local sake by the bottle or in a tasting set of three varieties, accompanied by rare local snacks.
Suzuki Sake Shop (Kanda/Minowa)
It's a large store that carries a wide variety of alcohol other than sake. At the corner bar and paid tasting corner, you can enjoy hot sake and various snacks that you can buy to go with your drink.
Local sake shop Kodama (Otsuka)
The shop is packed with the owner's passion for sake, and the service is amazing! Although there is no kaku-uchi bar, almost all products are available for tasting and sale by weight. The selection is centered on heavy sake with strong umami flavors.
Futaba (Kuramae)
This liquor store also has a cafe space where you can have a proper meal and a well-equipped corner bar. They offer sake tasting sets starting at 600 yen for two glasses, as well as "senbero sets" that combine beer and shochu.
Masuhiro (Asakusa)
Located a little way from Kappabashi Dogu-gai, this bar also offers a kaku-uchi bar. They stock mainly sake, shochu, wine, and beer, all carefully selected by the owner. It's a homey shop where you'll be greeted by the owner, his wife, or his daughter.
Famous Sake Center (Ochanomizu)
The company, which has been publishing the sake specialty information magazine "Monthly Bimy" since 1985, offers delicious local sake from all over the country, and its drinking corner is one of the best.
Sake Street (Kuramae)
The company was launched in 2019 with the goal of "making Japanese sake a drink enjoyed around the world." They actively publish articles aimed at professionals on their media website . They are a passionate young liquor store where you can enjoy a drink at the corner bar.
Hyogo Prefecture
Okazake Shoten (Kobe)
It's a little hard to find since it's on the second floor of a multi-tenant building, but this liquor store only sells natural sake, and you can sample them for a fee. Although the selection is limited, the owner also holds pairing events and suggests the best way to drink each product.
