Kenichiro is the owner of OkaSake Shop.

His mission centers on supporting and promoting natural pure rice sake, a concept rooted in our desire to uplift local breweries that are dedicated to their communities and committed to creating safe, high-quality sake with respect for the environment. This mission defines our approach at OkaSake Shop.

The essence of natural pure rice sake lies in sourcing ingredients like rice, water, and yeast locally and crafting sake using traditional methods that capture the authentic flavors of the ingredients. At Oka Sake Shop, we define natural pure rice sake by three core criteria: using pesticide-free rice, minimizing additives (such as brewing lactic acid), and ideally using indigenous yeast from the brewery itself. Sake made in this way reflect the local environment and are crafted with the utmost care for quality and sustainability.

His commitment extends beyond sake itself; he aima to support the farmers and ecosystems involved. When pesticide-free rice paddies grow, they help restore the region’s natural ecosystem to its original state, contributing to a healthier environment for future generations. Sharing the beauty and benefits of natural pure rice sake is our way of supporting this vital cycle.

At OkaSake Shop, he does more than just sell sake. He personally travels to each brewery to capture and share their unique perspectives, production methods, and the heartfelt dedication of local rice farmers. Through this storytelling, he hopes to connect you with the rich diversity and beauty of natural pure rice sake, enhancing your enjoyment of every sip and offering an opportunity to make a positive impact. His goal is to introduce “environmental sustainability” as a meaningful option in your sake selection.

Since December 2019, he has opened a physical shop in Motomachi, Kobe, where he offers paid tastings for you to casually experience the charm of natural pure rice sake. He is committed to spreading awareness of these local treasures and hope to deepen your love for Japanese sake along the way.
